Federal Task Force on Fiscal Literacy
In the 2009 budget, the Minister of Finance announced his intention to establish a national task force dedicated to the issue of financial literacy. Appointed in June 2009, the Task Force on Financial Literacy comprises 13 members, drawn from the business and education sectors, community organizations and academia.
The Task Force on Financial Literacy will provide advice and recommendations to the Minister of Finance on a national strategy to strengthen the financial literacy of Canadians. They will be consulting with Canadians to inform their final report. They are accepting written submissions, hosting an online forum, and travelling for live consultations in cities across the country (see link below for schedule and venues).
None of the 13 members of the task force have a direct connection to the credit union system in Canada, so the consultation process will be your opportunity to be heard. May 13, 2010 is the final date for input.
