STAND UP Against Bullying Day

(HALIFAX)  On Thursday, September 9, 2010, employees of CUCNS & LSM will join other Nova Scotians across the province in recognizing STAND UP Against Bullying Day. They will challenging their colleagues at credit unions across the province to also take a stand against bullying.

The now-international event, STAND UP Against Bullying Day, was inspired by the actions of two Nova Scotia high school students. When the young men saw a classmate being taunted for wearing pink, they stood up to the bullies. Wearing pink to school and encouraging other classmates to do the same sent a strong grassroots message from student to student that bullying should not and would not be tolerated.

If you would like to take a stand against bullying, wear pink on September 9. If you’d like to do more, speak to local school groups or organizations like Kids Help Phone that help bullying victims. They can advise you of volunteer opportunities or how to make donations.
