- Approximately 165,551 people in Nova Scotia belong to a credit union - that's roughly one in six Nova Scotians.
- Customer-owners are served through a network of 31 credit unions with 162 points of service (82 locations and 81 ATMs) throughout the province.
- The Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation guarantees deposits up to $250,000 - more than double the coverage offered by banks.
- In 2009, combined credit union assets in Nova Scotia totalled close to $1.7 billion.
- Credit unions are locally owned, managed and staffed with a primary responsibility to invest profits in the communities of Nova Scotia.
- Credit unions serve 68 communities across the province, and in 30 communities credit unions are the only financial institution.

- More than 949 Nova Scotians are employed by the credit union system.
Investing in our Community
- For the second year in a row, credit unions held a successful food drive in conjunction with Credit Union Day and Co-op Week. In 2007, close to a thousand kilograms of food was collected for distribution to citizens in need.
- Since 1979, Nova Scotia credit unions have been strong supporters of the IWK Health Care Centre. Over the past 28 years, credit unions have contributed nearly $1-million to the centre through their fundraising efforts.
- Nova Scotia credit unions were proud to be Silver Sponsors of the 2006 Global Microcredit Summit.
